Congratulations to everyone who competed in the Dublin Masters Cross Country Championships in St. Anne’s Park yesterday, which attracted record fields for both races with 112 women and 216 men finishing. It was a bright and crisp start to a Sunday morning in Bushy park where some ladies from Rathfarnham WSAF AC embarked on a new venture for the club; the Ladies Meet and Train XC races. Well done to everyone who raced off the festive excesses over the past few days. A hardy group of club runners braved the cold wet and windy conditions on St. Stephen’s Day to complete the traditional Rathfarnham Mince Pie Run, an 8k climb from the clubhouse up to Killakee car park. Yesterday's Marlay Parkrun was a featured race for the Club and Rathfarnham athletes filled the first 3 places in the 5k. First home was Eoghain McGinley in 16.04, followed by Louis McCarthy in 2nd place in 16.21 and Brian Furey 3rd in 17.20. John McHugh was 20th in 19.14 and Niall Skelton ran 19.57. Congratulations to the club athletes who took braved icy road conditions to take the top positions in the Aware Christmas 10k and 5k races yesterday. Sean Hehir clocked an impressive 31.04 over two slippery laps in the 10k, followed by Eoghan McGinley in 2nd place in 32.47 and Colm Murray in 12th place in 36.44. At today's Jingle Bells 5k Run in the Phoenix Park, Sean Hehir was our first member home in 7th place in a time of 14.58. Next came Brian Furey 31st in 16.08, Colm Murray in 17.07, Denis Daly in 18.23, Tom Cuddy 18.30, Maria Dolan 19.07 and Eric Cullen 19.17. The full results are on the Championchip website. The highlight performance from the Club today at the Dublin Intermediate Cross Country Championships in Tymon Park was the Ladies team who were just edged out of the bronze medal place by one point.
