Congratulations to the club athletes who took braved icy road conditions to take the top positions in the Aware Christmas 10k and 5k races yesterday. Sean Hehir clocked an impressive 31.04 over two slippery laps in the 10k, followed by Eoghan McGinley in 2nd place in 32.47 and Colm Murray in 12th place in 36.44. Michael Freeley won the 5k in a time of 17.00, and Aisling O’Connor was 4th woman in a PB of 20.38. Full results are on the Precision Timing site. This morning, in considerably warmer but windy conditions, Denis Everett was first home from the club in the BHAA Vodafone Cross Country in 18th position, completing the 5k course in a time of 19.30, and followed by Tom Cuddy (24th and 1st M55 in 19.52), John McHugh (27th and 2nd M55 in 20.07), Don O’Carroll (47th and 2nd M60 in 20.51), Rob Costello (53rd in 20.57), Terry Clarke (57th in 21.12), Eric Cullen (59th in 21.21), Tony Connolly (60th in 21.21), Vanessa Sallier (9th woman and 2nd F40 in 22.26), Peter McDermott (83rd and 2nd M65 in 22.31), and Michael Devine (89th in 22.49).
