Well done to everyone who raced off the festive excesses over the past few days. A hardy group of club runners braved the cold wet and windy conditions on St. Stephen’s Day to complete the traditional Rathfarnham Mince Pie Run, an 8k climb from the clubhouse up to Killakee car park. First to the top were John McHugh and Denis Daly in 48 minutes. The winner of the 2014 Mince Pie Trophy was Terry Clarke, who was closely tracked by Rebecca Byrne. Meanwhile in Co. Galway Sean Hehir was 2nd in the Fields of Athenry 10k in a time of 30.59, followed by Brian Furey in 6th place in 33.49. Full results are on the Athenry 10k site. In the Clonliffe Christmas Cracker 5k Turlough Conway finished in 8th position and 1st M40 in 16.51, followed by Greg Byrne (10th and 1st M35 in 17.27), Maria Dolan (3rd woman and 1st F45 in 19.27) and Grainne Connor (7th woman in 21.07). Full results are on the Clonliffe Harriers website. In the Baldy Man 8k Beach Run in Waterford yesterday, Dave Power was 7th in 33.03. Full results are on the Total Timing site. Well done to all and best wishes for the New Year.
