This Sunday many of our top Club runners are competing in the All Ireland Crosss Country Championships at Kilbeggan Racecourse, Co Westmeath. First off will be Tom McGrath in the Under 12 Boys. He will be followed by the Under 16 Boys team of David Scanlon, Ian Rankin, Sean Hayes and Paddy O'Donohue. In the Under 18 Boys Jack McLoughlin and Michael Treacy (2nd in Dublin Champs.) will be competing. In the mens senior Inter Counties race we have Barry Minnock running for Offaly and Mark Ryan, Gearoid O'Connor and Eoin Flynn for Dublin. Well done to all the Club Juveniles who ran in the Under 17 and Under 19 Dublin Cross Country Championships in Marley Park today. The U17 Boys took the 3rd team prize while Michael Treacy was narrowly beaten into 2nd., followed by Ian Rankin, David Scanlon, Stephen Gaffney and Mark Young. Bill O'Cleary and Gerard Claffey ran in the Under 19 Boys race over 6k where Bill was 7th and Gerard was 17th. The Juvenile Boys are running well at the moment and follows up on a great 2nd team place for the Under 16 Boys in last Sunday's Dublin CC Championships in St. Annes Park Raheny. The Under 16 team was David Scanlon, Ian Rankin, Sean Hayes and Paddy O'Donoghue. Jack McLoughlin ran in the Junior Under 19 race last Sunday. Philip Halpin, Juvenile coach is delighted. Congratulations to Michael Tracey on his fabulous second place in the 3000 metres at the Leinster under 16 track and field championships at Santry on Saturday 16th May. Michael ran a tactical and gutsy race to finish in a time of 9.36. His coach, Philip Halpin, was delighted. Michael's potential is enormous.
Mention also of Ian Rankin who was 6th in the 1500 metres in a time of 4.40, on limited training.
