Sunday 25th March Nationals
On day 3 of the national juvenile championships in Athlone AIT, Rathfarnham had a small but quality field of athletes competing. Sophie Maxwell was first into the thick of the action in the U13 girls long jump. Scoring three decent jumps for her debut appearance in the national championships. Next up was Isabelle Doyle in the heats of the 200m running a time 26:39, She qualified in 2nd place in her heat to qualify for the final. In a high standard final Isabelle ran from lane 2. In a dramatic last 20 meters, Isabelle grabbed third on the final bend and held onto it till she crossed the finish line in 26:24 for Bronze. Our sole boy representative Dara Mulvihill took part in two disciplines in the U13 boys long jump and 60m hurdles. In a stacked girls U16 60m hurdles field, Clodagh Cullen put in a very brave performance in her heat. Aoife Murphy ran in the Girls U19 800m. Well done to all our young athletes on all qualifying to represent Rathfarnham at National level.
The Dublin Athletics Board Juvenile Cross Country League Series came to a conclusion at Tymon Park. Held over three meetings which featured Ardgillian Skerries, Phoenix Park and Tymon Park which was hosted by Rathfarnham. The club was well represented at all the meetings with some super performances by our young athletes. More athletes are always encouraged and welcome to represent the club in these well run and exciting events!

Boys: Under 9: Jonny Maxwell 8th, Callum Kelly 28th, Ross Rylands 53rd.
Under 10: Fionn Mc Glynn 28th, Colm Keogh 41st.
Under 12: Fionn Kelly 6th, Ryan O'Neill 10th, Dara Mulvihill 17th.
Under 13: Cathal Keogh 15th.
Under 16: Matthew Scully 7th.
Under 17: Alex Hill 9th.
Under 18: Fields Chung 2nd.
Rathfarnham had a trio of qualifiers for the Juvenile National Cross Country Championships. Held on a tough hilly course with extremely heavy underfoot conditions, the races themselves proved a challenge for even the most committed of Cross Country runners ! In the Under 11 Girls, Jodie Ritchie finished 23rd, Jodie was sixth scorer on both of the Gold medal winning teams of Dublin and Leinster. Alice Hickey and Edel Mc Creery represented the club in Under 13. Alice was unfortunate in falling from a top ten position close to the finishing line. Recovering, Alice still managed an excellent 16th position, which also made her third scorer on the Gold winning Dublin team. Edel Mc Creery put in a gutsy performance to finish 124th. Well done to the three Girls!
Rathfarnham has a new National Silver Medalist in Under 12 Girls Cross Country. Zoie Ritchie battled through a huge field in heavy underfoot conditions to finish a well deserved second. Zoie also picked up a second Silver medal by scoring on the 2nd placed Dublin County team.
In the Under 14 Girls , Alice Hickey came 31st in another huge field. Alice scored on the Gold winning Dublin team and grabbed herself a medal. Lucie Ritchie was Rathfarnhams third National qualifier. Lucie finished a gallant 55th.
All three girls can be extremely proud of their performances at a highly competitive National level. All that extra training in Tymon has certainly paid off!
Rathfarnham was well represented at the Dublin Even Ages Cross Country Championships, a total of 22 young athletes toed the line at the National Cross Country venue. There was many memorable performances, the highlight for the club been Zoie Ritchie tremendous performance in becoming Under 12 Dublin Champion.
Under 10 Boys : Fionn Mc Glynn 10th, Colm Keogh 21st, Ben Mulvihill 23rd, Callum Kelly 57th. Team came 7th.
Under 12 Girls : Zoie Ritchie 1st, Caolainn Mc Cabe 34th, Philipa Mc Glynn 42th, Eimear Doyle 57th, Jessica Mc Luskie 81st. Team 10th.
Under 12 Boys: Dara Mulvihill 15th, Fionn Kelly 19th.
Under 14 Girls : Lucie Ritchie 7th, Alice Hickey 8th, Aoife Doyle 40th, Elvie Loopsman Browne 44th, Abbey Kelly 48th. Team 6th.
Under 14 Boys : Cathal Keogh 33rd, Rory Sweeney 52nd.
Under 16 Boys : Matthew Scully 25th.
Under 18 Boys: Alex Hill 18th, Fields Chung 22nd.
