The first race of the day saw Rathfarnham's own Lucie Ritchie represent Dublin in the Under 11 Girls race, which was run over a distance of 1500m on a demanding and soft course, on the coldest day of the year! 159 girls toed the line, and the level of talent on display was outstanding, with the future of Irish Cross Country running looking very bright indeed! Lucie was not fazed by the opposition and battled through a tough field, to complete her lap with her now customary fast finish in a very creditable 68th position. Well done Lucie! Full results are on the AAI website.
Lucie Ritchie who competed in the Girls Under 11 race.
In an event hosted by Rathfarnham AC, the final Juvenile XC league of the season took place in Tymon Park. Competitors faced a typical cross country course; though conditions remained dry, the temperatures remained chilly with a damp feel to the air. The club had a good strong entry with three young athletes making their XC debuts: Ryan O'Neill under 9, Orla Byrne under 10 and Yamina Abdeladif under 12. In the first race of the day ran over 700m , Zoe Ritchie continued her terrific run of form by winning the Girls under 9 race. Next up was the Boys under 9s, ran over the same distance. This featured debutant Ryan O'Neill and cross country regular Matthew Smyth, both of who put in excellent performances. Next was the Girls Under 10 in which Orla Byrne, also making her debut, had a strong run alongside Charlotte Burge. Yet again the Girls Under 11 had a big entry. Rathfarnham were led home in impressive style by Lucie Ritchie followed by Sophie Fasenfeld and Elena Cullen. In the Under 12 Girls which featured a strong field, Alannah Fasenfeld put in her best finish to date. Also in the under 12 race was Yamina Abdeladif, who has competed for the club previously on track. This was her cross country debut and she finished well. Ellie Stapleton finished the day off with a gutsy run in the under 13 Girls. A huge well done to all our young athletes, which all of us at the club are so proud of! Full results will appear on the Dublin Athletics Board website.
Best of luck to Lucie Ritchie, who competes in the Juvenile Uneven All Ireland XC Championships next weekend in Santry, representing Dublin and Rathfarnham AC.
Rathfarnham Juveniles from Sunday, and Matthew Smyth (L) and Ryan O'Neill (R) under 9.
Today, at the National Juvenile Cross Country Championships held in Dundalk, Rathfarnham was represented by Sophie Ritchie. Sophie who was selected to run in the colours of Dublin, ran in the Girls Under 12 race. Sophie has been in great form in the Juvenile Cross Country Leagues this season. Her selection is a great achievement and well deserved.
The final Juvenile League Cross Country of the season will be held in Tymon Park next Sunday 30th November @11am. Rathfarnham AC are hosting this race meeting, it would be great to see a big Juvenile entry! We would encourage the club's Juveniles to enter and finish off the season in style!
Congratulations to our two medal winners today, Zoe Ritchie in the Under 9 Girls and Lucie Ritchie in the Under 11 Girls, which were held in perfect weather conditions on the excellent Santry course. Our first athlete of the day in action was Zoe Ritchie. Running in the Girls Under 9 race, Zoe ran a terrific race to finish in 10th position. Next up was the Under 9 Boys in which Fionn Kelly and Matthew Smyth represented the club. The boys finished very strong and where extremley unlucky to finish outside the top 12. As usual the Girls Under 11 race had a huge entry, and this was also our largest entry, with five girls in total. First home for Rathfarnham was Lucie Ritchie in 11th position, and finishing next after running a very strong race was Ella Pasley. Our next finisher was Abbey Kelly, followed by Sophie Fasenfeld and Elena Cullen. Our last athlete of the day was Ellie Stapleton, who ran well in the Girls Under 13. Congratulations to all our athletes for their great displays. Thanks as usual to their parents for support and help. Full results will appear on the Dublin Athletics Board website. Next up is League 4 XC on 30th November in Tymon Park @ 11am. This is the last Juvenile XC for the season so we urge you to enter and finish the season off in style!

In extremely windy conditions our Juveniles put in sterling performances on a demanding course. First off was Zoe Ritchie, who moved up to run in the Under 10 Girls. The jump in age group didn't faze Zoe, who came home in a terrific 4th position. In the Under 12 Girls race, our two representatives, Sophie Ritchie and Alannah Fasenfeld, both had impressive performances. Sophie was first home in 8th position followed by a strong finishing Alannah. A huge well done to our athlletes who performed brilliantly in testing conditions. A special mention to all the girls' team mates who turned up to support them. Thanks also to the parents for their continued support. Full results will appear on the Dublin Athletics Board website. Next up is the Juvenile XC Championships, Uneven Ages, Sunday 2nd November 2014 , Santry @ 11am
