Over 40 runners from the club competed in the Great Ireland Run, which doubled as the AAI National 10km Championships. The Phoenix Park hosted the elite men and women, including 4 from Rathfarnham, which was a great reflection of the strength of road running in the club. Weather conditions were good, with bright sunshine and a strong wind making the 2nd half of the course much tougher than the first 5km.
Barry Minnock led the way home in 31:58 (18th), followed by Louis McCarthy 32:30, Eoghain McGinley 32:41, Brian Furey 33:12. The men's team finished 2nd overall, securing silver behind Leevale AC. Derval Devaney led the women's team home, in 40:01, followed by Valerie McGuinness 42:18, Clare Sullivan 42:34, Lorraine Nolan 42:52.
