Well done to Eoin Flynn in winning the BHAA 5k Road Race in a windy Marley Park today in a time of 15.57. Willie Morris was 5th (17.01) and showed no ill effects of his Jingle Bells 5K on Saturday. Barry Minnock and Donna Mahon had superb runs in their marathon debut in the Florence Marathon today. Barry was home 12th in a time of 2.24.00 out of a field of over 8,100 runners, on a largely flat course featuring cobblestones and sharp corners. Some excellent runs were recorded by Club athletes in Saturdays BHAA Cross Country in the Ward on a very testing course through ploughed fields and across rivers. In the Lotto Cross Cup in Belgium today, Sean Hehir, running on the Irish team for the first time, finished in 22nd position and 4th scoring member on the Irish team. This was a very brave run by Sean as he lost a spike early on in the race and ran with only one shoe. With two, who knows what he can achieve.
