We had three athletes from Rathfarnham WSAF AC running in Oylgate on Sunday 29th August. In the half marathon a back in form Colm Murray ran a super 80:45 to with the M50 section. Micheál Murphy ran a steady 87:40 as prep for his upcoming marathon. There was a good Rathfarnham representation in the IMRA Wicklow Way half marathon on Sunday 29th August 20121. In the women’s section the training partners of Clare Sheils, Noreen Fitzsimons, Lian Brady and Maria Brennan competed with Noreen coming second in the F45. We had some fantastic results from our talented Rathfarnham WSAF AC athletes at this year's Juvenile track and field championships. A total of six medals were brought home over the three weekends. At the British Milers Club Trafford Gold Standard track meeting on 27th July the in form Rathfarnham pair, Mitchel Byrne and Davis Scanlon had fantastic runs in the 1500m with Mitchel running his second fastest time ever of 3:48.38 and David running a PB of 3:52.73. In the BMC Loughborough Grand Prix on July 24th Rathfarnham WSAF AC’s David Scanlon ran a super new club 5000m record of 14:22.46. Big congratulations to David who had to wait around so late for his race. Other great runs were from Carla Sweeney who ran 4.18.12 in the 1500m and Mitchell Byrne ran 3.50.41. The North Belfast Harriers Middle Distance Meeting was held on Saturday 10th July at the Mary Peter’s Track, Belfast.
