We had some great runs by Club athletes at today's Cross Country Championships in Santry over a very wet testing course after the morning's rain. In the Junior men's 4k race we had David Scanlon (7th) and Laurance Boran (14th), along with Mitchel Byrne (3rd.) from WSAF AC. Yet another great day for the Club with Sean Hehir coming 2nd Irishman home in today's Dublin Marathon and Barry Minnock 3rd. Sean, in his Marathon debut, ran solidly through out to finish in 2.17.35 and was 13th overall. Barry ran 2.18.45 and was 14th overall. Sean Hehir recorded another great run today, ahead of his Dublin Marathon debut, when easily winning the Clane 10k Road Race in a time of 30.35. Tommy Evans from Gowran A.C. was 2nd in 32.26. Well done to Paul Stephenson who won the Dublin Novice Cross Country Championships in the Phoenix Park over a tough 6k Course in a time of 19.25. Jason Reid was 6th, Alan Danager 13th and Robert Murphy 18th to lead the team home in 2nd position, with Clonliffe first. Well done to all who ran in Saturday's BHAA Cross Country in Castleknock College. In the ladies race over 2 miles Sonya O'Connell was 3rd in 12.40. Barry Minnock led home over 600 runners when winning the Athlone 3/4 Marathon in a time of 1.47.07, Brian Furey in his second race in as many days, was 8th in 1.57.42, David Power 53rd in 2.17.28 and Diarmuid Coogan 68th in 2.20.27. Sean Hehir continued his good form yesterday, ahead of his Dublin Marathon debut, by easily winning the Galway Bay 10k Road Race in a time of 30.38. Cillian O'Leary, Clonliffe was 2nd in 31.48 and David Kelly 3rd in 32.22. Brian Furey was 5th in 36.41 and Ciara Hassett was 35th in 42.21 (7th lady).
