The Great Ireland Run lived up to its name today, with team gold for our senior men and possibly our masters women in the National 10k Championships. A number of athletes are also in contention for individual medals. What a great day for Rathfarnham WSAF AC with Caitriona Jennings running a time of 2.36.11 and the A qualifying standard for this year's Olympics in today's Rotterdam Marathon. Caitriona is now the 2nd fastest of the 4 Irish qualifiers to date for the Marathon. A report is on the AAI website. On Good Friday last Brian Furey was 5th in the Feet First 5 mile Road Race around the streets of Killarney. Brian's time was 27.53 in a race won by Sean Connolly from Tallaght in 24.41. Helen Leonard, running well for the third week in a row, was 3rd lady home and 32nd overall in a fast 31.29. Derek Bain had a great run yesterday when coming 15th in the Connemara Half Marathon in a time of 85.26. Full results are in todays Irish Independent and will be posted later on the Connemara Marathon website. At today's Reading Half Marathon Barry Minnock showed he is coming back to his best form for the National 10k in 2 weeks. Barry was a very credible 7th in 66.37. Jason Reid was 48th in 72.36 and Kevin Bolger was 57th in 73.27. Full results on Reading Half Marathon website. Well done to the lads for such an awesome performance....Page 108 of 185
