Some fantastic performances came from Rathfarnham athletes at the National Senior Track Championships on Saturday 29th June 2024, with Carla Sweeney and Zoie Richie both progressing to the 1500m and 800m finals on the Sunday. Good performances came from Isabelle Doyle 200m 26.65, Lee Byrne 800m 1.55.6, Cillian Doherty 1500m 4.01, Mitchell Byrne 5000m final 14.29 and David Scanlon 5000m final 14.32. Special mention for emerging Daire Sullivan running in 5000m C race placing 2nd 15.33.
On Sunday 30th June 2024, Carla Sweeney took a brilliant silver medal in the blue riband 1500m event finishing fastest of all to lose out narrowly to Paris bound Olympian Sophie O'Sullivan. Edel McCreery followed up shortly afterwards with a strong final lap to take a bronze medal in the U20 3000m. Strong run also by Zoie Richie in a highly competitive senior 800m final won by Sarah Healy also Paris bound. A fine run was had by by Ryan O'Neill with a 17s PB (9mins) run in the U20 3000m final. Well done to all club runners in a fantastic National Championships.
