Well done to Adam Jones and Enda Fitpatrick, DCH for developing an excellent cross country course for the All Ireland Schools Cross Country Championships in Tymon Park on Saturday 9th March. Adam and Enda spent several weeks designing the course and they ensured it was well tested out by running our Saturday morning cross country training session on it for the past weeks. Many thanks to all the Club members who worked very hard in setting up the course from 8.00 that morning and taking it down after the races. Well done to Club member Edel McCreery who came 5th in the Senior Girls race, while representing Loreto High School Beaufort.
A huge congratulations to Vanessa Sallier and Orla O'Neill on winning gold in the Masters Combined Events - National Indoors in January and on Saturday 9th March in the Leinster Indoors Championships. This combined event is a masters penthalon: 60m hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot putt and an 800m all in one day.
We had a terrific turnout from the Club for the Bohermeen Half Marathon on Sunday 10th March in fairly wintery conditions, with some great runs from Rathfarnham athletes. First home for the club in 1.12.53 was Alexey Marchenko, followed by 16 more - Laura McDonnell, John McAuley, Jos Lalor, Richard Deeney, Gavin Murphy, Ronan Byrne, Sean McCarron, Noreen Fitzsimons, Catherine Kelly, Maria Brennan, Jackie Kingston and Keren Ziv. We had PB’s, for Mick Stuart, Martin Kelly, and Lian Brady, with Edwin Keville running 1.21.53, his best time since 2019 and 2nd in age category. Well done all.
