On the final day of the National Senior Track and Field Championships at Morton Stadium on Sunday 30th July, we won our first national senior 400m relay medal. Our women's 4X400m relay team won the bronze medal. Our team was led out by Wahjerjay Blango, who handed over to Louise Gaffney who got the team up to third. Louise handed over to Zoie Richie and then to Caitriona Dowling who led the team home in third position in a time of 3.58.74. Zoie Richie was very busy as she had earlier finished 6th in the 800m final in a time of 2.11.02. Cillian Doherty had a fine run in the 1,500m final and finished 7th in 3.55.22. In the 5,000m final Mitchell Byrne was 6th in 14.09 and David Scanlon was 8th in 14.32.
On day 1 of the national Senior Track & Field Championships at a windy Morton Stadium, Zoie Richie finished second in her heat of the 800m heat in a time of 2.13.73, to qualify for the final. Cillian Doherty also qualified for the 1,500m final by finishing 5th in his heat, in a time of 3.59.53. Also in the 800m heats Caitriona Dowling finished 7th in 2.21. Lee Byrne finished 7th in 2.01.33 and Jared Murray was 5th in 1.57.35 in the 800m heats. In the 1,500m heats Louise Gaffney finished 8th in 4.38 and Edel McCreery 9th in 4.46. In the 400m heats newcomer Wahjerjay Blango ran 60.32 to finish 5th. Well done to all.
