There was a strong Rathfarnham WSAF AC presence at the 2021 Jingle Bells 5k organised by Donore Harriers in the Phoenix Park on Saturday December 4th. Mitchel Byrne was 3rd overall with David Scanlon 6th, very close behind. Brian Furey ran 16:46 showing great signs of getting his speed back. Louise Gaffney had a massive 17:30 PB as did Zak Kealy running 17:36, with Laura McDonnell close by in 17:49. Colm Murray ran 17:53 on one leg with a pulled hamstring! Micheál Murphy ran 18:12 having chatted for the first half of the race followed by a gasping Denis Daly in 18:20 who was delighted to be back racing after nearly 2 years. Gael Hernandez ran18:22, Ross Griffin 18:27 and Cian McCabe 18:32 having stopped to find his second shoe! Ever youg Tom Cuddy ran 18:50 and Seán McCreery ran 18:47 when he finally realised that the race had started. Dermot Sheils was well recovered from his marathon and ran 19:12 and Pearce Coyle 19:37. Next Lady was Laura Ryan who outdid herself with a 19:31 followed by Captain Catríona Dowling in 19:42. Alan brady hit an ace 19:46 and John McCabe an excellent 19:57. Ester Lawlor ran a determined 20:08 ,Venessa Sallier 20:52 and Clare Sheils chased her husband to a 21:10. Seán Doyle ran 22:49 and Eric Cullen 24:18. It was great to see Jackie Kingston back in action and rebuilding after her road traffic accident, running an amazing 26:08 after what she has been through. Great to see Kerrianne Waldron getting stuck in with a 30:04. The coffee and chat afterwards was the nearest thing to a Christmas party with Covid going the wrong way again. Well done to everyone who took part.
