We had a very busy racing calendar for all our Club athletes this weekend. On Friday 4th Dec. we had Caitriona Jennings and Barry Minnock in the 1st IAU (International Association of Ultra Runners) 50k World Championships in Doha, Quatar. Caitriona showed she is back to her best racing form when finishing 4th in the womens 50k race in a time of 3.31.50. In the men's 50k race Barry ran 3.16.36 to finish 21st. On Saturday 5th Dec. at the Jingle Bells 5k Run we had 7 running from the Club. First home was Paul Stephenson 8th in 15.23, followed by David Scanlon 10th in 15.24, Eoghain McGinley 17th in 16.07, Michael Freeley 41st in 17.12, Pearse Aherne 17.52, Denis Daly 18.58 and Daniel Keogh 20.00. Also on Saturday Michell Byrne, running for his college The Americal International College, Boston ran a personal best of 8.25 for the 3,000m indoors. At today's National Novice Cross Country Championships in Dungarvan Co. Waterford our men's team of David Power (68th in 21.48), Jack McLoughlin (86th in 22.05), Aaron Browne 94th in 22.14), Niall Skelton (176th in 24.03) and Ger Stephenson (198th in 24.44) finished 16th out of 24 teams.
