The Irish Universities Track and Field National Championships took place at the Mardyke Track in Cork on Friday and Saturday. The best performance by a Club member was by Stephen Gaffney, representing UCD, when winning bronze in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.70m and running the 4th leg on the UCD 4X100m team which took bronze as well. Stephen was also 8th in the Triple Jump with a 11.95m jump. Gerard Claffey, representing Trinity College, was 5th in his heat of the 800m in 2.04 and just missed out on a final place. Gerard also ran the 3rd leg in both the 4X100m and 4X400m relays for Trinity. Lawrence Boran, representing IT Tallaght, was 8th in his heat of the 1,500m and ran 4.26. Alan Danagher, representing DCU, ran on the 4X400m DCU team and also ran in the open 3,000m. The full results are on the IUAA website. Well done to all who ran.
The track was renamed the O'Sullivan Athletics Track on Saturday after Sonia, which was reopened after refurbishment.
