Paul Stephenson showed today that this is his season on the cross country by coming third in the National Novice Cross Country in Adamstown, Co. Wexford. Paul stayed with the leaders on the 4 laps of an undulating 1,500m course and had a great battle up the home straight to hold onto the bronze medal. Paul was supported by Shane O'Neill 34th, Ciaran Aylward 35th and David Power 45th, to bring the team home in 5th position, just 2 points from bronze. Other great runs were had by Matthew Horigan 59th, Alan Danagher 67th, Robert Murphy 101st, Neil Bolger 113rd, Peter Toomey 125th and Gerard Claffey 156th. The Ladies team were led home by Clare Sullivan 20th, followed by Lorraine Nolan 43rd, Eimear Fitzmaurice 48th and Ciara Hassett 57th to bring the team home in 6th place. In the Under 19 Race Mitch Byrne from WSAF AC was 4th and David Scanlon was 13th. Both Mitch and David scored on the Dublin team which was placed second.
