The highlight at today's National Intermediate Cross Country Championships in Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle, Co Roscommon was the men's team taking the silver medal. Over a very testing muddy 10k course Louis McCarthy was first home followed by Paul Stephenson, Turlough Conway and Robert Murphy who had a brilliant first face for the Club. The silver medal team were supported with great runs from Peter Toomey, Aiden Connelly and Brian Crinnion. Louis also scored on the winning Dublin team. The Ladies Intermediate team ran over a 4k course and was led home by Sonya O'Connell, Catherine Devitt, Eilis Connery, Claire Sullivan, Ciara Hassett, Lorraine Nolan and Valerie McGuinness in her first race for the Club. The Ladies team was 6th out of 10.
In the National Masters CC Championships our Men's 50+ team of Adrian Tucker, Joe Casey, Brendan Hogan and Tommie Bishop took gold, while the ladies Masters team of Donna Mahon, Maria Dolan, Vanessa Sallier and Helen French won the bronze team medal. The ladies team were supported by great runs from Zoe Melling and Helen Ingram (O.55), while Sean Doyle (O.50), Terry Clarke (O.55) and John McHugh (O.50) supported the Mens 50+ team to victory. In the mens Masters race we had Paul Fleming (O.35), first home, followed by Edwin Keville (O.45), Gerry Doyle (O.45), Pearse Coyle (O.45) and Derek Bain (O.40). The Men's Masters team was 6th out of 13 teams. Some results are posted on the AAI website and pictures are in the Gallery. Well done to all.
