At todays Leinster Masters and Novice Championships on the shores of Lough Ennell, Belvedere Park, Mullingar we had 20 Club members running up and down some very testing hills. First off were the Novice Women on a new expanded 4k course, and Clare Sullivan led the team home in her debut race for the club, finishing 15th in a time of 17.22. Next home was Ellen Murphy (24th in 17.52), followed by Grainne Connor (31st in 18.02), Ciara Hassett (33rd in 18.05), Helen French (34th in 18.14), and Dorien Hester (52nd in 19.36, also running her debut race). In the Novice Men's 6k race, Shane O'Neill was first home for the team in 23rd place, followed by Mark Horan (26th), Peter Toomey (40th, another first timer for the club), and Gerard Claffey in 68th position. The Masters Women's team of Zoe Melling (18th), Laura Flynn (19th) and Helen Ingram (21st) scored bronze in the club competition, with Helen Ingram winning individual gold in the F55 category. In the Men's Masters event Pease Coyle was 25th, followed by Tommy Bishop (28th), Derek Bain (34th), Terry Clarke (37th), Richie Cattle (41st), John McHugh (42nd) and PJ Claffey (72nd).
