100% Irish, 50% Rathfarnham! With 3 of the senior men's team of 6 coming from the storied ranks of Rathfarnham their overall placing of 9th in the world was fantastic in the senior men's race. Mark Ryan, Barry Minnock and Brian Furey all competed for Rathfarnham and Ireland at the IAAF World Hillrunning Championships held in Albania. Mark in particular having an amazing run finishing as first Irishman home in 26th place overall in an incredibly competitive field. Barry (53rd) and Brian (59th) battled the 35degree heat to help Mark record the senior team's highest finish in 15 years racing at this level. Donna Mahon ran a hugely gutsy race to finish as second Irish lady in 45th place overall and helped her Irish team to a very good 11th place in the draining conditions which caused many athletes to retire from her race with heat or dehydration issues. Fantastic running from all four athletes.
