The highlights from our team performance at the Leinster T&F Championships in Tullamore today was a haul of 15 medals which included a double gold for Sean and Paul in the 1,500/5k Seniors and Masters races, Gold for Gerard Claffey in the Senior 800m B and Gold again for Stuart McCleane in the 400m Masters. We started with the 800m Masters with Stuart McCleane (2nd. O. 40), Terry McConnon (3rd. O.45), Pearse Coyle, Owen McLoughlin, John McHugh and Philip Halpin (3rd. O.55). Gerard Claffey came 4th in the men's senior 800m and won Gold in the B race. In the Masters 5000m Paul Fleming won the race easily with Sane O'Neill in his first track race ever coming 3rd O. 35, while Edwin Keville was 3rd. O. 45 and P.J. Claffey won silver in the O.50 category. In the mens senior 5k Sean Hehir had a brilliant run to come home first in 14.50 (approx) in his first track race in 3 years. In the mens Senior 1,500m Sean Hehir had his second win of the day, with Louis McCarthy second. Ian Ingram ran well to finish 5th in his first come back race and Gerard Claffey ran well to finish in the pack in his second race of the day. In the masters 1,500 Paul Fleming won his second gold with Owen McLoughlin 3rd. O.45 and followed by Edwin Keville. In the second masters 1,500m John McHugh was 3rd. O.50 and Philip Halpin was 3rd.
