We had very good representation at the Leinster Novice/Masters Road Championships in Gowran on Monday. In blustery conditions first off were the novice ladies with good performances from Aisling Tohill and Lorraine Nolan. In the Ladies' Masters race of 3K Helen Ingram won gold (O/55) while the other team members of Maria Dolan and Vanessa Sallier ran well to score team silver behind Sportsworld. Having secured the novice men's team gold last year it was always going to be difficult to follow with a new team. Our only representative there was Daniel Keogh who had a very good run. With great representation in the masters' men Edwin Keville was first home to secure individual silver (M45).The 40+ team of Edwin, John Farrelly, Owen Mc Loughlin and Joe Casey won the team bronze from North Laois and Kilcoole ahead of them. Derek Bain was 5th scorer on the 40+ team. In the 50+ category there was a great team run from John Mc Cabe, Tommy Bishop and John Mc Hugh. They won silver in both team and county. Times were down on last year with the blustery conditions. Well done to all participants who gave up their Bank Holiday Monday to represent the club. Full results are available on the Athletics Leinster site for the women's and men's races.
