Congratulations to Seán Hehir on winning the Munster Senior Cross Country title in Kilnaboy, Co. Clare, on Sunday. Seán took out the pace from the off and opened a 3 second lead over the chasers Sean Mc Grath and James Mc Carthy, East Cork (Gold and Silver medal winners in the All Ireland Intermediate Cross Country 2007). Seán held on to that 3 second lead all the way to the 6 kilometer mark, before putting in a sustained effort to the line to lengthen the gap and win his first Munster Senior Cross Country title. Sean also lead Clare to the silver medal in the county competition behind close rivals Cork. In so doing Seán holds an unique record by becoming the Munster and Leinster Senior Cross Country champion for 2011. This bodes well for Sean in the upcoming National Senior CC in Santry on Saturday week and the Ballycotton 10 miler in March. Well done Sean. Full results will be posted shortly on Munster Athletics website.
