Subject: Request that runners are advised not to run in groups in public parks

To running groups and clubs using Marlay and other DLR parks

We are again receiving a lot of complaints about people running in groups in Marlay Park and some of our other parks – as groups who promote running we would greatly appreciate if you could advise your members not to run in groups as this is causing a lot of fear and anxiety for many other park users.  Ideally they should run as individuals or in pairs at most.

People are quite scared of coming in close contact with runners who are breathing heavily during exercise.  Elderly people are particularly vulnerable and many are very afraid of catching COVID 19.   We want people who are utilizing the park to feel safe and be able to exercise safely. I would really appreciate your support in this.  I’m aware many of the runners are not part of a club but might follow others behaving responsibly.

Many thanks

Helena
