23rd April 2009 National Road Relays, Raheny
The Senior Mens team finished in a frustrating fourth position on Sunday at the National Road Relays. Raheny Shamrocks dominated from the beginning of the race, with Mark Kirwan getting the team an early lead. James King ran the first two mile leg for the Senior team and passed over to Michael Freeley who ran the mile leg in a time of 4.44. Barry Minnock ran a stong three mile leg, in 14.55 and passed on to the experienced Paul Fleming, the anchor man for many years. Paul ran a great race to get the team into fourth place, getting ahead of Clonliffe and Raheny B.
In the mens B team, Peter OFarrell had a good run to finish the 2 miles in 10.16 and onto Brian ODonoghue who did the mile in 4.54, Kevin Keane ran a solid three miles, mainly on his own in 16.10 and Jonathon Hughes brought the B team home in 13th place with a 10.41 two miles. In the C team, Derek Furness, Owen McLoughlin, Ian Ingram and Mark Scanlan finished in 23rd place.
The Mens Masters team also finished in a frustrating fourth place, with Owen McLoughlin, Padgraig MacCriostail and Brendan Hogan making up the A team, the race was won by Tallaght ac. The Mens Masters (O50) team of Eoin Murray, Terry Clarke and PJ Claffey were also fourth.
