The Dublin Intermediate Cross Country Championships 2017 took place on the 3rd December at the Tymon Park cross country circuit. Conditions were mild and damp, ideal for cross country racing. The challenging course on a 2k circuit is thoughtfully designed was immaculately prepared for the day.

The women’s team won an excellent Bronze medal with Lynne just missing out on the individual Bronze. Results were as follows:

Donore Harriers ran the very popular and fast 27th annual Jingle Bells 5k race in the Phoenix park on Saturday 2nd December. Results from club members were as follows:

Ronan Kearns 16:27, Donagh Powell 16:44, Jack Doyle 19:01, Eric Cullen19:09, Derek Bain 19:20, John McHugh 2016, Alexander Fraser 22:45, Orla Murray 23:00 and Pearse Coyle 26:17!

The Waterford half marathon took place on 2nd December. Mark Ryan ran a fantastic time of 68:26 to come 10th and that after running cross country 6 days before. He seems to have chosen the American version of the Rathfarnham WSAF singlet for this race! Thanks to Race Face for the photo.

 

The Autumn Open Cross Country  took place in the National Sports Campus, Abbotstown on Sunday 22nd October 2017.

First home for the men’s senior team was David Scanlon in 28th in a time of 24:49, followed by Colm Moran in 55th in 27:19 and Neil Skelton 61st in 28:05.

The first of the masters runners was Jonathan Hughes who was 36th overall and 15th M35 in 26:45. Brian Furey was 51st overall and 21st M35 in 27:15. Paul Flemming was 102nd and 23rd M40 in 31:10. Terry Clark was 113th overall and 8th M60 in 32:42.

Well done to all who competed.

 

The National Senior Cross Country Championships 2017 was held in Abbotstown on Sunday 26th November. A nine strong mens entry competed well with the results being as follows:

Mark Ryan 29th 33:25, David Scanlon 60th 35:01, Paul Stephenson 71st 35:25, Louis McCarthy 85th 35:54, David Power 99th  36:30, Brian Furey 101st 36:39, Jonathan Hughes 120th 37:33, Donagh Powell 125th 37:41, Gael Hernandez 153rd 40:09.

In the club competition Rathfarnham WSAF finished 9th overall. Well done to everybody. Some strong running bodes well for the future.
