Day three brought the curtain down on the Juvenile Track Championships for another year. Hugh Prendergast was first into action in U/18 Boys 200m. Running in lane 8, Hugh was 4th (23:84)  just missing out in a place in the final. Isabelle Doyle was Rathfarnhams hope in U/16 Girls 200m. Isabelle qualified for final finishing 4th (27:29) from heat 1. In the final, Isabelle started in lane 2, finishing 5th (26:85). Our last competitor was Alannah Fasenfeld in Girls U/15 250mH, Alannah finished 6th in heat (40:75). Well done to all our Athletes. Full results on Athletics Ireland website.

Warm , sunny  weather  greeted  Athletes  for  the weekend  of  the  Juvenile  Championships   held in Tullamore last weekend.  Day One saw Rathfarnhams young hurdlers into National Championship action. First into battle was Cillian Mc Cabe U/13 Boys 60mH. Starting from lane 5 in the second heat, Cillian was impressive finishing 2nd 10.08 easily booking himself a place in the Final. Cillian was drawn in lane 7th for the Final,  finishing  a close 5th posting  9.94 a new pb!  Sofia Hyland Girls U/14 75mH, also qualified from her heat  in  3rd place 12.80. Sofia came a respectful 7th in Final with  a faster 12.26!

Dara Mulvihill was busy on Saturday representing Rathfarnham in two events;  U12 Long Jump  and Shot Put. Dara jumped 3.54m 16th and threw 7.01m 12th.

Isabelle Doyle in the  U/16 Girls Long Jump made the cut out from  15 competitors . Isabelle jumped a pb of  4.91m to finish 8th overall in a highly competitive competition.

Alex Hill came 4th 2:06:56 in U/17 Boys 800m.

Sunday brought the second day of action. Amy Mc Cabe was 6th 1:04:97 in U/17 Girls 400m. Our young hurdler  finalist from Saturday, Sofia Hyland,  turned Long Jumper on Sunday and jumped a very impressive 4.86m in the U/14 Girls event , placing 3rd and earning herself a Bronze Medal in her first National Outdoors!


After lunch saw the appearance of the Sprinters!  Daniel Chukwu was Rathfarnhams hope in the U/13 Boys 80m. Daniel came agoingsly close to a Final Qualifying place, coming in 6th place 10:94 in the faster of the two heats!  In heat two of the  U/15 Girls 100m, Fortune Chukwu came  4th 13:20. Isabelle Doyle ran 12.93 in U/16 Girls 100m to take her place in a top quality field in the Final. Isabelle was 7th 12:88 in Final,   in which  a  championship record was broken!  Well done to all our Athletes! Full results on Athletics Ireland website.


The final action of this years Dublin  Championships was the Even Age Relays. Held in warm conditions which included heavy bouts of rain, just in case anyone was enjoying the sun too much!!

First into action was Girls U12 4 x 100m team, Sophie Maxwell ran a fantastic  first leg backed up by Ciara Murphy, Caolainn Mc Cabe and the strong finishing Claudia Manning, the girls finished 3rd in heat to get themselves a place in the Final. The Girls came 5th in Final. Next up was U12 Boys 4 x 100m team;  Ryan O’Neill, Fionn Kelly, Cormac Keogh and fast finisher Tom O’Regan. The Boys came 5th in heat, qualifying for Final as fastest losers. The Boys gave a good account of themselves to finish 5th in Final. Girls U14 4 x 100m team; Anna Doyle, Elena Cullen, Sofia Coleman and Sofia Hyland came 5th in the fastest heat, just missing out in a place in the Final. Boys U14 4 x 100m team came the closest to medalling on the night. Placing 3rd in their heat the Boys went into Final as contenders. Billy Conroy Roche took off like a rocket running the first leg, Daire Sullivan 2nd and Cillian Mc Cabe exchanged strongly to set up Daniel Chukwu. Daniel  ran a tremendous final leg which finished in a close blanket finish with a few clubs, our Boys finishing 5th overall.  Fifth seemed to be our position for the night!!







Well done to all our Relay teams that competed in Santry and Irishtown.  The Relays create great club spirit among our young Athletes, which gives a contagious and exciting atmosphere on the night! Great to see all our young athletes  who had competed earlier on the night staying on to cheer on their club mates  in their events! Well done to everyone who competed or supported during the Championships!

The Dublin Juvenile Championships returned on Friday this time it was the uneven age relays. Rathfarnham were represented by three relay teams. First was the U13 girls which was Charlotte May Manning, Eimear Doyle, Abbie Fitzgerald and Charlotte Burge the girls finished the heat in 7th position all putting in a brace performance. The U13 boys was next on the track ; Cillian Mc Cabe,Tom O'Regan,Cathal Keogh and and Dara Mulvihill. The boys ran great in the heat giving them a place in the final. Tom had a very fast finish bringing the quartet to a very close 5th. Finally was the U15 girls in the final the team was led by Clodagh Cullen who passed to Anna Doyle to run an amazing 2nd leg, next was Ellie Mc Eneany who handed the baton to Fortune Chukwu who ran a terrific leg placing the girls in a very close 5th. Well done to all the teams!

Day 3:  On Sunday 11th June the third day of the Dublin juvenile championships took place in Irishtown.  Starting with the track events;  first on the track for Rathfarnham was Amy Mc Cabe in the U17 girls 400m,  Amy ran a quick time of 62.4 to grab the bronze medal.
Next was the action packed hurdles,  starting with Edel Mc Creery in the U13 girls 60m h.  Edel ran a  great in the heats to get herself a place in the final. In the U13 boys Cillian Mc Cabe got the silver medal running an amazing time of 10.1. Next up  was the U14 girls 75m h. Rathfarnham were represented by 5 girls; Anna Doyle, Sofia Hyland, Elena Cullen, Sophie Fasenfeld and  Abbey  Kelly. Anna narrowly missed out on getting to the semis and Sophia got to the final finishing in second place!
  In the U15 girls 80m h, in a straight  final Alannah Fasenfeld finished in 2nd position and Clodagh Cullen in 5th, both girls ran a brave race.



In the 200m heats, it started off with the girls U14 with Anna Mc Creery making it to the semi-final, Lucie Ritchie and Abbey Kelly also ran. There was three girls in the U15 200m; Sophie Ritchie, Alannah Fasenfeld and Clodagh Cullen,  Sophie narrowly missed out on getting to the final and Alannah got through to the final . In the U16 girls,  Isabelle Doyle got into the final and ran a very impressive race to finish 2nd with a quick time of 26.4. In the U16 boys Ian Kirwan ran and in the U18 boys Hugh Prendergast finished 3rd overall!  The last track event of the day was the girls U14 2km walk in which Rathfarnham was represented by Lucie Ritchie finishing in 1st position.
Rathfarnham had great performances in the field events including  the shot put,  U12 girls Zoie Ritchie 5.81m  placed 2nd, in the U12 boys Dara Mulvihill also placed 2nd throwing 6.49m. In the U14 girls,  Elena Cullen 6.33m just missed out on qualifying to the final 8. In the U15 girls,  Alannah Fasenfeld 8.66m 1st,  Sophie Ritchie 7.41m 4th and Clodagh Cullen 6.43m 6th.
In the U16 girls long jump Isabelle Doyle Jumped an amazing 4.83m to get 1st place. In the boys U12 high jump,  Dara Mulvihill 1.20m 4th and in the girls U15 long jump, Alannah Fasenfeld 4.23m 4th.
