With over 4000 entrants and ideal conditions the 2020 Raheny 5 mile road race on Sunday 26th was going to be a day of PB’s. For Rathfarnham, Mitchel Byrne’s blistering 23:37 was only good enough for 11th place given the calibre of the field but it was Tommy Hughes who stole the show with a new 5mile M60 world record of 25:57. There were many other super individual performances with the full club results being as follows:
Mitchel Byrne 23:37, David Scanlon 24:15, Paul Fleming 25:48, Tommy Hughes 25:57, Brian Furey 26:35, Donagh Powell 27:18, Peter Toomey 28:59, Shane Grehan 29:25, Ross Griffin 33:11, Derek Bain 34:10.
