Eoin Flynn in action

The 35th Edition of the World Mountain Running Championships and 16th edition of the Long Distance Championships were held in Villa La Angostura, Patagonia, Argentina on 13-14th November 2019. Rathfarnham WSAF AC was very well represented with both Eoin Flynn and Brian Furey qualifying to represent their country. Conditions were very tough to the extent that it was about survival. Eoin ended up neck deep in water hanging onto a branch at one stage and true sportsman that he is ended up fishing out a Maltese athlete who was about to be washed away!  It probably cost a few places but he ended up  69th overall on the shorter course (14.7km with 754m up and down) and on the Irish Team that finished 16th. On the long course (41.5km with 2184m up and down) tough mountain man Brian Furey was also 69th overall and on the Irish Team that finished 15th. Well done to both of you representing Club and Country!
