The 2019 National Half marathon Championships took place within the Rock n Roll half marathon from Fitzwilliam Square to the Phoenix Park on Sunday 11th August. Bobby Murphy was first over the line for Rathfarnham WSAF AC in 5th position. He won the M35 Gold medal in a big new PB of 68:58. New member Tommy Hughes was 14th overall and won the M55 Gold medal in a super time of 73:59. Colm Murray won the M50 Gold medal in 83:07 and Denis Daly the M50 bronze in 85:33. Jackie Sullivan won the W55 silver medal in 105.35 and Tom Cuddy won the M60 gold medal in 86:38. Together Colm Muray, Denis Daly and Tom Cuddy took the M50 team gold medal. Joe Casey ran 90:12, Leslie Lluyd Hughes 90:30, John Farrelly 91:15 (watch out he’s coming back!) and Ester Lawlor 103:00 (A big new PB!) Well done to everybody who competed and a special thanks to PJ Claffey who organised the Rathfarnham WSAF stewarding group who patrolled and cajoled along the Chapelizod Road.
