Congratulations to our masters women’s teams who picked up gold in both age categories at the Leinster Novice and Masters Cross Country In Moyvalley yesterday afternoon. Our 50+ masters men’s team came third and our novice women were 4th. In the 4k novice women’s race Valerie McGuinness was first home from the club in 7th place in 15.32, followed by teammates Clare Sullivan (15th in 16.00), Louise Gaffney (16th in 16.03) and Aisling O’Connor (32d in 16.47). In the master’s women’s race over the same course, Derval Devaney led the F35+ team home in a time of 15.23, finishing 4th overall and scoring individual bronze in the F40 category. She was followed by Donna Mahon in 9th place in 15.53, Vanessa Sallier (28th in 16.51) and Zoe Melling (50th in 17.59). Miriam McCormack was first scorer on the F50+ team, finishing 45th overall in 17.49, and she was followed by Laura  Flynn (48th in 17.56) and Helen Ingram (66nd in 18.22), who won individual gold in the F60 category. In the masters men’s 6k race Joe Casey was first the first club finisher in 72nd place in a time of 23.07, followed by Tommy Bishop (77th in 23.09), Tom Cuddy (101st in 24.15) and John McHugh (108th in 24.36).
