Congratulations to the five Rathfarnham teams who represented the club in the National Road Relays in Raheny yesterday. First event of the afternoon was the Masters Women’s race in which our team finished in 6th place. Vanessa Sallier kicked off the first mile leg in a time of 6.08, followed by Maria Dolan who ran 12.21 for two miles, and Donna Mahon who completed the anchor leg in 6.08. In the competitive Masters Men’s race the M35+ team of Turlough Conway (4.51 for the first mile), Paul Fleming (9.58 for the two mile leg) and Ronan Kearns (4.52 for the final leg) made a valiant strike at bronze and were unlucky to miss the mark by less than a second. Our second team finished a creditable 11th, with Michael Freeley running 4.51 for the first leg, Shane O’Neill running 10.25 for the two mile leg, and Tom Cuddy transferring from the M50+ team to complete the last leg in 5.40. In the final race of the day our two Senior Men’s teams put in solid performances, finishing 8th and 21st respectively. On the A team Louis McCarthy ran 9.53 for the first two mile leg, followed by Barry Minnock (4.41 for one mile), Paul Stephen (15.19 for the three mile leg) and Eoghain McGinley (9.54 for the two mile anchor leg). David Scanlon ran the first leg on the B team in 10.05, followed by David Danagher (5.52), Brian Furey (16.05) and Kevin Donagher (10.41). Well done to all.
