Congratulations to our masters women and 50+ men who picked up team gold in the Leinster Masters Cross Country this afternoon, held in warm windy conditions in the scenic location of Avondale, Co. Wicklow. Derval Devaney was the first scorer in the women’s 4k race, finishing 8th overall and 3rd in the F35 category in a time of 15.07. Donna Mahon was close behind in 15.10, placing 6th in the F40 category, and was followed by Vanessa Sallier (11th F40 in 15.50), Tressan McCambridge in her debut race for the club (7th F35 in 16.31), Zoe Melling (22nd F40 in 17.33) and Jackie Sullivan (10th F50 in 17.53). In the men’s hilly 6k race Joe Casey was first home from the club, finishing 5th M50 in a time of 23.49, followed by Tommy Bishop (8th M50 in 24.08), John Farrelly (14th M50 in 24.51), Tom Cuddy (5th M50 in 24.55), Stuart McCleane (21st M45 in 25.50), John McHugh (7th M50 in 26.07) and Terry Clarke (8th M50 in 26.13).
