Well done to everyone who represented the club in the Dublin Novice Cross Country Championships in the Phoenix Park yesterday, which attracted record numbers for both the men’s and women’s races. Aisling O’Connor led the women’s team home to 7th place, completing the 4k course in a time of 16.32 and finishing 22nd in the field of 72. She was followed by Ciara Hassett (27th in 16.41), Rebecca Byrne (29th in 16.44), Katherine Howard (33rd in 16.51), Aisling Tohill (64th in 18.50) and Maedhbh Ni Cleirigh (67th in 19.11). David Scanlon was first scorer for the club in the men’s 6k race, finishing 7th of 102 athletes in a time of 20.02, and leading his team mates home to 6th place. Patrick Marjolet was next home in 13th position in 20.34, followed by Greg Byrne (34th in 21.29), Peter Toomey (40th in 21.56), Lawrence Boran (55th in 22.30), Paul Gilligan (78th in 23.49), David Danagher (89th in 24.24), and Neil Skelton (95th in 25.10).
