Congratulations to everyone who competed in the National Half Marathon Championships yesterday, held again in conjunction with the Dublin Rock 'n' Roll Dublin Half Marathon in the city centre. This year’s event was run on a tough new course which included plenty of hills, sunshine and music, and harvested two team silver and one individual gold medal for club athletes. Eoin Flynn was first home from the club in 5th place in a time of 1.13.44, and led teammates Eoghain McGinley (13th in 1.13.44) and Kevin Donagher (32nd in 1.16.55) to 2nd place in a combined time of 3.40.55. Maria Dolan ran a PB of 1.25.35 to win the F45 category by nearly nine minutes, and with teammates Vanessa Sallier (1.34.57) and Helen French (1.38.49) scored silver for the masters women’s team in a combined time of 4.39.23. Our M50 team of Joe Casey (1.24.50), John Farrelly (1.25.16) and Terry Clarke (1.30.50) came 4th, and our senior women’s team of Nikki Dorey (1.32.04), Clare Sullivan (1.35.39) and Maedhbh Ni Chleirigh (1.55.50) were 7th. Also running for the club were Peter Toomey (1.21.07), Ciaran Aylward (1:23:32), Micheal Murphy (1:32:37), Eric Cullen (1.39.11), Zoe Melling (1:47:53), PJ Claffey (1.49.14) and Mairead Kavanagh (1.57.31).
