Well done to Maria Dolan who was 1st O/45 in a PB of 63.14 in the Ballycotton 10 Mile Road Race yesterday. Derek Bain finished in 64.46 and Micheal Murphy ran 68.16. On Saturday Jonathan O'Donoghoe (Terenure College) finished 22nd in the Senior Boys race at the Aviva All Ireland Schools Cross Country Championships in Cork IT. Jonathan completed the 6500m course in a time of 24.48. Full results are available on the AAI website. At the same venue David Scanlon (DCU) was 29th over a very muddy 9k course in 29.43, while Gerard Claffey was 102nd in 38.30. The full results are on the IUAA website.
The BHAA NUI Maynooth Cross Country took place in dry breezy conditions, and underfoot conditions were good for all the runners. In the ladies 2 mile race, first home for the club was Vanessa Sallier in 6th position (13:04). In the mens 4 mile race, first home for the club was Denis Everett in 34th position (24:17). Next home was Jack Doyle, 47th (24:51). Next was Terry Clarke, 62th (25:35). Hot on his heels was John Mc Hugh, 66th (25:57). Then came Eric Cullen, 83rd (27:07) who out-sprinted Daniel Keogh, 84th (27:11). The came Phillip Wright in 95th position (27:42). The full results are on the BHAA website. Well done to all
A large contingent of club runners participated in the first anniversary of the Marlay Parkrun. Rathfarnham AC athletes took the first three positions in the race, with mens club captain Louis McCarthy finishing first in an impressive time of 15:59, followed by Jonathan Hughes, Greg Byrne and Eoghan McGinley. Ladies club captain Clare Sullivan was the second female home in a time of 19:15. Zoe Melling won a prize in the female points competition, which was presented by Irish 400m athlete David Gillick. Don’O’Carroll, Michael Devine, John McCabe, PJ Claffey, Jackie Sullivan and several members of the Rathfarnham Fit4Life group also participated. Full results and photos are on the Marlay ParkRun site.
