There were some great results on the roads over the weekend. Congratulations to Eoin Flynn who won the Gran Canaria Marathon in a time of 2.29.14 in Las Palmas yesterday. Full results from the marathon are on the Gran Canaria Maratón site. Meanwhile in considerably colder conditions Seán Hehir was second in the John Treacy Dungarvan 10 Mile Road Race in a time of 49.48, 11 seconds behind winner Tom Fitzpatrick of Tallaght AC. Next home from the club was Paul Stephenson in 11th place in a time of 53.13, followed by David Power (55th in 58.24), Greg Byrne (72nd in 59.21), Eddie O’Mahony (265th in 66.46), and Grainne Connor (25th woman in 68.10). Full race results are available on the West Waterford AC website. In the AXA Raheny 5 Mile Louis McCarthy was the first Rathfarnham runner, finishing in 10th place in a time of 25.36. Next was Gerald Forde (20th in 26.39), followed by Shane O’Neill (32nd and 3rd O/40 in 27.16), Ronan Kearns (34th in 27.17), Jonathan Hughes (63rd in 28.10), Peter Toomey (120th in 29.23), Maria Dolan (a very close 2nd F45 behind Annette Kealy of the host club in 30.11), John Hogan (249th in 31.52), Lorraine Nolan (17th woman in 31.54) and Philip Wright (2nd O/60 in 34.09).
