There was a record turnout for the Dublin Novice Cross Country Championships this afternoon, hosted for the first time in St. Anne's Park by Raheny Shamrocks. 71 finishers completed the women's 3k race, which was won by Kate Cronin of the host club in a time of 10.19. The Rathfarnham team of Valerie McGuinness (5th in 10.50), Ciara Hassett (22nd in 11.56), Aisling O'Connor (38th in 12.16) and Amy Cooke (41st in 12.26) finished in 7th place. A large field of 87 runners competed in the men's 6k race, which was won by Ian Guiden of Clonliffe Harriers. The Rathfarnham team finished in 6th place, and was led home by Mitch Byrne in 5th place in 19.09, followed by Robert Murphy (12th in 19.36), Peter Toomey (47th in 21.10), Barry Finn (56th in 21.47), Alan Danagher (57th in 21.28), David Danagher (61st in 22.09), Gerard Claffey (67th in 22.34), Rob Costello (75th in 23.10) and Denis Daly (80th in 23.40).
