Well done to everyone who competed in the Woodie’s DIY Masters Track and Field championships on Saturday, held in windy conditions in Tullamore. Vanessa Sallier was the club’s sole female representative, and topped the medal tally with silver in the F40 800m in a time of 2.37, and bronze in the 3000m in 11.19. Peter McDermott won gold in his M65 category in the 5000m race in 21.57. In the men’s 800m Ronan Kearns scored bronze in the M35 category in a time of 2.03, John McCabe ran 2.26 to finish 5th in the M50 category, and John McHugh was 2nd M55 in 2.32. Terry Clarke put his sprinting skills to the test in a series of short races, finishing 3rd M55 in the 100m (time not recorded), 4th in the 200m in a time of 31.87, and 5th in the 400m in 69.51.
