Congratulations to all our medal winners at the National Track and Field Championships in Santry this weekend - the most successful games for the club to date. It was team silver for our senior men in the 10,000m race yesterday, with Jason Reid first home in 17th place in a time of 33.09, followed by Turlough Conway (19th in 33.48) and Brian Furey (20th in 34.24). Stephen Gaffney kicked off today's action with a bronze medal winning perfomance in the men's long jump, with another great PB of 7.15m, and Mitchell Byrne was a very close second in the junior men's 3,000m in a time of 9.11. In the senior men's 5000m race Paul Stephenson was 6th in a PB of 14.50, followed by Louis McCarthy (12th in 15.16), Robert Murphy (21st in a PB of 15.49), Jonathan Hughes (22nd in a PB of 15.50), Ciaran Aylward (27th in 16.37), and David Power (29th in 16.39). Alan Danagher, Gerard Claffey and Lawrence Boran also represented the club at the championships, competing in the 800m heats yesterday. Well done to all.
