Congratulations to everyone who represented the club in the National 10 championships yesterday, held in conjunction with the Great Ireland Run on a windy afternoon in the Phoenix Park. The championship women’s race kicked off at 1.10pm, and Clare Sullivan led the senior women home to team bronze in an excellent time of 39.59, closely followed by Valerie McGuinness (40.38) and Eimear Fitzmaurice (41.09). Vanessa Sallier was first of the masters women in 42.02, followed by team mates Helen Ingram (45.04) and Joanne Hope (47.12). The team finished in 4th place behind Donore Harriers. Our senior mens team finished a close third to Clonliffe Harriers, led by Paul Stephenson in a time of 33.00, and followed by Louis McCarthy (33.20), Shane O’Neill (34.10), Brian Furey (34.39), Greg Byrne (37.29), Peter Toomey (37.49), and Colm Murray (38.06). The shiniest medals of the day went to our M55 team of Sean Doyle (39.09), John McHugh (39.22), and Terry Clarke (40.35) who fought off Clonliffe Harriers and Tallaght AC to claim gold.
