Congratulations to everyone who braved the wet and windy conditions yesterday afternoon to run in the Gerry Farnan Cross Country races, which also served as the trial for the British & Irish Masters Champs in Glasgow on November 26th. Donna Mahon and Paul Fleming both secured places on the squad, finishing 2nd and 1st respectively in the O/35 category. In the women’s 3 mile race Donna was 14th overall in 17.42, and Paul clocked a time of 27.22 over the men’s 5 mile course to finish in 38th position. Louis McCarthy was first senior home from the club in 21st place in a time of 37.06, followed by Ronan Kearns (58th in 28.14), Michael Freeley (60th in 28.16), Jonathan Hughes (67th in 28.29), Brian Furey (81st in 28.55), Gearoid O’Connor (89th in 29.16), Clyde Dunne (93rd & 4th O/35 in 29.27), and Terry Clarke (138th & 6th O/55 in 33.18). In the U18 Dublin championships, which preceeded the adult races, David Scanlon finished 5th, followed by Ian Rankin in 12th position. Both athletes qualify for the National Championships. Sean Hayes was 22nd, and Oisin McGrath, running his first cross country race, was 25th and followed closely by Paddy O'Donohue.
