Congratulations to everyone who braved fierce heat yesterday to compete for the club in the National 10k Road Championships, which was incorporated in the Great Ireland Run in the Phoenix Park. The tough hilly course was not one for producing pbs. In the women’s race Donna Mahon was first home from the club in 5th place in 38.38, followed by Aoife O’Connor (10th in 39.41), Norita Murphy (37th in 42.59), Helen Ingram (39th and 1st O/50 in 43.07), Vanessa Sallier (49th in 43.49), Laura Flynn (71st and 3rd O/45 in 45.05), Lorraine Nolan (85th in 45.33), Zoe Melling (92nd in 45.49), and Ann French (152nd in 47.57). THe ladies Masters team of Norita, Helen and Vanessa won gold while the senior team were 5th. Seán Hehir led the men’s team home in 12th place in a brilliant time of 31.19, followed by Louis McCarthy (33rd in 33.19), Brian Furey (43rd in 34.00), Kevin Bolger (97th in 35.59), Edwin Keville (100th in 36.04), Adrian Tucker (166th in 37.48), Owen Mc Loughlin (180th in 38.12), Brendan Hogan (203rd in 38.34), Sean Doyle (209th in 38.39), Joe Casey (245th in 39.16), Terry Clarke (296th in 40.10), John McHugh (306th in 40.20), PJ Claffey (787th in 46.12). The mens senior team of Sean, louis, Brian and Kevin were 3rd out of 28 teams, while the Masters M40+ (Edwin, Joe and Owen) were 5th and the Masters M50+ Team (Adrian, Brendan and Sean) were 3rd.
