Well done to Julian Kuppler, Barry Minnock, Eoin Flynn & Paul Fleming who turned out excellent performances at the National T & F field champs at the weekend. Kicking off proceedings on Saturday afternoon in wet, muggy conditions was Julian Kuppler in the 1500m, whose 3rd placing in his heat in a time of 1.55 was enough to qualify him for the final on Sunday. Next off was Barry Minnock, who excelled himself in the 10k with a pb of 30.21 and set a new club record. Barry finished in 5th place, and was unlucky to miss out on a medal, having held onto 3rd position for most of the race. Eoin Flynn bravely led his 1500m heat for the first 3 laps, but was outsprinted into 6th place on the finishing straight, in a time of 3.56. Fortunately Eoin managed to secure a place in the final as one of the 4 fastest losers, ensuring that the club was well represented again on Sunday.

Julian Kuppler was first up again in day two of the championships, and shaved 3 seconds off his 800m heat time to finish in 8th place in the final in an excellent 1.52.59. Paul Fleming ran a trademark tactical race in the 5k to work his way from the back of the pack to finish in 12th position in 15.06, less than a minute behind the winner Alastair Cragg. Final race of the day was the 1500m final, in which Eoin Flynn finished 12th in a highly competitive field in a time of 3.55.65, 7 seconds behind the winner Mark Christie. Congratulations to all.
