Congratulations to the five teams who competed in the National Masters & Intermediate Cross Country Champs in Lough Key, Roscommon today. First off were the Masters Women at 2pm, with two laps of a scenic course that fell well short of the advertised 4k. Our team of Miriam McCormick (39th), Vanessa Sallier (40th), Zoe Melling (43rd) and Helen Ingram (62nd) were 8th. Miriam also picked up a silver medal on the Dublin team. In the Masters Men's race, our O/50 team won bronze(3rd) led by Adrian Tucker in an impressive 73rd position (in a field of 198), followed by Sean Doyle (96th), John McHugh (123rd), Terry Clarke (137th) and Peter McDermott 168th). Turlough Conway was first scorer on the O/35 team, followed closely by Brendan Hogan (48th), Owen Mc Loughlin (58th), John Farrelly (98th) and Derek Bain (109th). The team came 9th overall. In the Intermediate Women's race, Ciara Hassett had a stormer to finish in 17th place, followed by Louise Cassidy (36th), Aisling Tohill (42nd) and Lorraine Nolan (44th). The team were 7th. Last race of the day was the Intermediate Men, in which Paul McGovern, John Brennan, Louis Kelleher, Ian Ingram and Rory O'Hanlon all ran well. Results are available on the AAI website.
