Congratulations to everyone who endured torrential rain and exceptionally wet, mucky conditions to compete in the Dublin Intermediate Cross Country Champs in Tymon Park this afternoon. On a course where swimming togs were nearly as necessary as sturdy spikes, 18 Rathfarnham athletes braved mudbaths, mini lakes and territorial swans to represent the club, and our men's team were rewarded with a silver medal for their efforts. Paul McGovern led the team home with a fantastic 7th place finish, followed by Niall Somers (10th), John Brennan (12th) and Brian Furey (13th). Good supporting performances were demonstrated by Owen Mc Loughlin (24th), Brendan Hogan (25th), Derek Bain (42nd), Rory O'Hanlon (48th), Niall O'Brien (55th), Liam Griffin (63rd), Frank Maguire (69th) & John Hogan (72nd). Tracy Jennings had a great run to finish 9th in the women's race, and was followed by Louise Cassidy (22nd), Ciara Hassett (24th) and Lorraine Nolan (37th) to finish 6th in the team placings. Emma Allott (56th) and Lydia Forde (59th) also competed in the women's race.
