The Dublin 10 mile championships were held in Swords on Sunday 9th September 2018. Shane O’Neill was first home for Rathfarnham WSAF AC to take the senior individual Bronze medal. We had just two athletes competing in the 2018 Celbridge AC 5k on Thursday 30th of August. Mitchel Byrne ran perfectly to win the race in 14:56. The only way the not so young can compete with that is the way Paul Moran did by setting a new Irish Masters M55 National record of 16:33! First across the line for Rathfarnham WSAF AC was Barry Minnock in a nicely paced 75:35 to come 16th overall and 5th M40. Peter o'Farrell ran 79:26. We had two medallists in the National Masters track and Field Championships 2018 in Tullamore on Saturday August 18th. Barry Minnock struck gold in the M40 5000m in a time of 15:54 and Ronan Kearns got silver in the M40 800m in 2:06. Well done to both of you. Rathfarnham WSAF AC’s Sean Hehir had a great run to finish 25th in the European Marathon Championships 2018 on August 12th in Berlin. He ran 2:18:58 in hot conditions to be the 3rd Irishman home and part of the Irish team who finished 6th overall, the best result ever by an Irish team in a European Championships marathon. First home for Rathfarnham WSAF AC on August 12th was Bobby Murphy in an excellent 8th position overall on a new and very hilly Rock n Roll Half Marathon course. He also won the M35 bronze medal.
