Terry Clarke and Philip Wright were our only competitors at the Army BHAA 6k in the Phoenix Park. They completed the 3X2k laps over jumps, through two rivers, up the Kiber Pass, climbed a steep hill by rope, crawled under nets, jumped over hurdles and ran down by the Magazine Fort, all 3 times. Peter O'Farrell secured the Leinster Mountain Running Championsip yesterday with a fine win on Lugnaquilla. Peter beat former world champion John Lenihan into second and in the process has given himself every chance of winning the Irish chamionships next Sunday on Galtymore. Some great results were recorded at the Dunshaughlin 10k last night. First home in 24th was Willie Morris (34.34) back to full fitness after injury, followed by Owen McLoughlin (34.54) in 29th, 32nd John Brennan (34.57) and 34th John Farrelly (35.31). We had several runners at the Trinity College BHAA track meeting who were led home by Stuart McClane who won the 800m A race. Others who ran on the night were Paul McGovern in the 3,000m A race, Terry Clarke in the 3,000m B race, Pierce Coyle ( 800m and 1 mile) and P.J. Claffey (800m and mile). Some great performances were achieved by Club athletes at the IMC meeting on a sunny Wednesday evening in Ringsend Stadium. In the 3,000m A race Julian Kuppler ran strongly to finish in 8.27 and was closely followed by Paul Fleming in 8.32. On 30th May in Manchester Julian Kuppler ran 3.51.15 (PB) in the 1,500m while James King ran 3.57.49. An the BMC Grand Prix II in Watford on 13 June Julian broke his PB again with a time of 3.50.43 while Paul Fleming ran 3.56.75. In the Dublin Senior Track & Field Championships we were represented by Paul Fleming, Michael Freeley and Brian O'Donoghue in the 1500M event. Paul ran a great race finishing in silver medal position, he gave Emmet Dunleavy a good race and any error by Emmet would have seen Paul take gold. We had a small but very successful number of Juvenile athletes competing in the Dublin Track and Field Championships on the 20th and 21st June.Tom McGrath who made finals of both 60M and 600M ran a great final to win bronze in the 600M.
