Highlight of the Adidas/Frank Duffy 10 mile Road Race in a windy Phoenix Park on 15th Aug 2009 was Caitriona Jennings coming home 3rd lady. Some other great runs were also recorded by club athletes. Ian Ingram, Derek Furniss, Terry Clarke, Eoin Murray, Heiner Schuster, Zoe Melling and Louise Cassidy all ran well in the Irish Life and Permanent, 3,000m Track race in Ringsend last Wednesday. We had some good performances at the last Dublin Athletic Board Graded Meeting in Ringsend on Wed. 5th Aug. 2009. In the 1,500m Noel Crowther ran 4.47, Don O'Carroll ran 4.53 and in the 3,000m Paul McGovern ran 9.10. Louise Cassidy ran 5.19 in the ladies 1,500m. Well done to Turlough Conway who came 5th in the Swinford 8 k road race in a time of 27.33 last weekend. Details are on the Athenry Athletic Club website. Link. Last night 4th Aug. 2009 the silver medal winning team (Barry Minnock, Michael Freeley and Kevin Keane) received their medals from Head Coach Adam Jones. This is a very proud moment for the Club as these are the first National Senior Track medals won by the Club, which we hope will be the first of many. Well done to all. Edwin Keville continues his fine form on the track this summer by winning 2 gold and 1 silver in the OutGames in Copenhagen last week. Edwin ran 18.03 in the 5,000m to win his age category and came first again in the 10,000m in 37.10. He finished second in the 1,500m in 4.50. He also had a go at the steeplechase. Well done to Edwin. Saturday 1st August was a big day in the Clubs history when our Mens team won the silver medal in the 10,000m race at the AAI Senior T&F Championships. Barry Minnock was very unlucky to finish outside the individual medals when he finished 4th in a career best time of 31.01, Michael Freeley was 12th in 33.30 and Kevin Keane was 13th in 33.42.
